Richie Adamaitis competes in a putting contest at the Joe Garassino Golf Tournament June 18. The event, attended by more than 300 people, raised money for cancer patients  in memory of Garassino, a 29-year-old Watertown man who died in January after a seven-month battle with the disease. The Joe Garassino Foundation presented a donation  of $8,500 to the Make A Wish Foundation to support a 12-year-old who was diagnosed  with cancer, a $2,500 donation to the Harold Leever Cancer Center and a $2,500 donation to Watertown Police Sgt. Tim Gavallas, who is currently in treatment for cancer.  Mike Garassino plans to hold the event annually in his son’s honor and is planning another event in the fall. Send donations to Joe Garassino Foundation at Wells Fargo Bank 365 Main St, Watertown or go to www.joegarassino.org.
